the father apparently ided his son's body before police arrived. >> the things are starting to appear to turn around. >> minutes before a tragic discovery. mike glenn was hopeful police would put more resources into his son's disappearance because he had just gotten the run away designation removed. then, colonel mike glenn received a call he feared most and he took off running through these woods, passing the grim faces of searchers who found a body. >> did you find something? >> he has been found. he's not okay. >> two of the searchers said they were sure the body was that of bryan glenn. they probably walked by it several times because the body looked like one of the searchers. it was upright, as if standing and looking toward the ground. >> in my personal opinion, it wasn't a suicide. >> people who knew bryan said that the high school senior did not seem distraught and would not have run away. >> he is such a normal kid.

in d.c. wednesday afternoon and the orioles play the yankees tonight at 7:30. tune in tonight at 11:00 for the highlights from both games. also tonight, encouraging news about the redskins quarterback, robert griffin, iii, mike shanahan is optimistic that griffin will play sunday against minnesota. that despite the fact he suffered that concussion. he probably saw from yesterday's game. it was griffin taking a hit that shook the whole redskins nation. he was knocked out of the game in the third quarter and yesterday's loss to atlanta. diagnosis, mild concussion. since then, he has been undergoing tests and doctors will monitor him. right now, things are looking up. >> he is good, no dizziness, no headaches. no vomiting. he feels like he has done well on the tests he has taken so far. >> we're going to hope the tests continue to go well. he will undergo a treadmill test and if there are any setbacks, it will be either

kirk cousins or rex grossman in the quarterback spot. former players are hoping rg3 learns a few lessons from that concussion. bruce johnson went to redskins park and talked to one former player who knows a whole lot about that stuff. >> you don't remember much. i was knocked out for a quarter and a half as a rookie. >> walker was on the sidelines sunday working for redskins radio when rg3 got knocked out of the game. >> used to call a ding, you know, and more of them happen in practice than in games than i can recall. >> nfl is being sued by players by not doing enough. >> the league is stricter with concussions than they have ever been before. >> grant paulson says he won't be back on the field until he is cleared by rules

prison. sandusky has been in isolation ever since he was convicted back in june. he spends his days exercising and reading and playing solitary. sandusky has been preparing the statement for his sentence. we are now exactly one month away from the election. the latest polls show a tight race between president obama and mitt romney. today, romney was visiting cadets at the virginia military institute where he promised to strengthen america's defense. he says president obama has failed to lead on the world stage, especially in the middle east. >> it is clear that the risk of conflict is higher now than when the president took office. >> polls show voters favor president obama when it comes to foreign policy. he is campaigning in california today. that's where he dedicated a national monument to latino labor leader, cesar chavez. >> he believes when a worker is treated fairly and humanely

by their employer, that adds meaning to the values this country was founded upon. >> president obama and mitt romney face off again next tuesday in the second of three debates. and in virginia's u.s. senate race, tonight former governors, george allen and tim kaine, will square off in a debate sponsored by the aarp of virginia and the league of women voters. that gets going in just under an hour, 8:00, right down in richmond. you can watch it live on our website, wusa9.com. you may have noticed these controversial ads up in the metro stations today. critics say they equate muslims to savages and a judge ruled the transit agency must display the american freedom defense initiatives commercials or ads. they are being posted as georgia avenue stations. and there's a consumer alert tonight for all of you with gelato. giant is pulling chocolate peanut butter cup gelato off the shelf.

that peanut butter may be contaminated. if you have this at your house, throw it away or you can take it back to giant for a refund. all right, top, we've had a rough day in the last couple of days. is it going to get better? >> it's going to be a slow process. we see light at the end of the tunnel. let's start with temperatures because it feels like november as opposed to october. it is 34 in oakland. jump that divide, they have had some flakes south of oakland and into tucker county and down towards snow shoe. it's only 53 downtown right now and most folks in the 40s. 46 in gaithersburg. 46 in frederick. and also leesburg, 48 in manassas. even over at andrews, it's only 51. 51 in fredericksburg. satellite picture, radar combined, a last batch of rain that has to roll through and it will clip the camden yards area, it looks like. temperatures with right rain, tough nighto watch baseball. hope everybody bundles up.

once that rolls through, out batch develop as we get into the morning hours. that's it for the night. for tonight, mostly cloudy, chilly, light rain and shows, lows in the 40s. we'll come back and talk about which of you will have a wet commute tomorrow morning and if temperatures get back to october levels. thank you, top. this little kitten caused quite a commotion today. a man driving down route 1 in beltsville, when he heard a meowing sound coming out from under the hood. he figured, it's not my transmission. he pulled over, called the fire department, it took a few minutes, but the firefighters coaxed the three week old kitten out of hiding in the car. that kitten has a new home, by the way. one of the firefighters adopted him. the latest on a disturbing report that finds tsa screeners are missing more liquids than they find.

some disturbing new details tonight about the failure rate of those tsa airport searches that anybody who flies has to suffer through. a confidential internal report finds that tsa screeners at one airport are missing far more oversize gels than they are catching. bruce leshan has the story. >> make sure everything is out of your pockets. >> they renamed newark, newark liberty. now comes a secret report from the tsa itself that its cleaners are failing to do what they are supposed to do to keep america safe. john is a law professor sat gw. >> any of my students who get less than 75, i'll fail them. here, the tsa itself says that its agents failed 80, 85, 100 percent of the time.

everybody should be scared and outraged. >> the tsa secret shoppers found screeners caught prohibited items and took appropriate action less than 25% of the time. they followed proper patdown procedures less than 17% of the time. and that they failed 100% of the time to tell people that they could opt out of a full body scan and go with a patdown. >> all the terrorists have to do is get through once. >> the tsa has lately been experimenting with something it calls behavioral detection instead of a physical patdown, it's like a verbal chatdown and this report proves it is a giant waste of time. >> the idea they will be trained to look for my microinspection or this trem in my voice, that's crazy. >> the investigation is the only one leaked publicly so far.

but if it's that bad at newark, a lot of people worry about failures at other airports, too. bruce leshan, 9news now. >> the agency is constantly evaluating workers in hopes of improving that performance. shocking news from van der sloot. he is going to be a dad. the 28-year-old is currently in prison for killing a 28-year- old woman back in 2010. he's the main suspect in the disappearance of natalie holloway. the mother of his child is named lady. according to prison records, she is registered as his girlfriend and the two have visits and they met through another inmate. danny devito and rita pearlman are calling it quits. the couple is separating. they work together on taxi. they tied the knot in 1982. they found jersey film. he currently stars in, it's always sunny in philadelphia.

the number of people sickened by that deadly outbreak is now up to 105 and eight people are dead from it. most of the cases are in virginia, tennessee, and michigan. but there are also cases in maryland. and doctors expect the numbers to grow over the next few weeks. >> that period of time from the exposure to the on set of symptoms can be quite prolonged. up to a month and a little bit longer. >> now those symptoms include headache, nausea, dizziness, and fever. and this is not contagious and treatment is expensive. you might want to have some tomatoes for dinner. they could lower the risk for a stroke. followed 1,000 men in finland and tested their blood. people with the highest amounts in their blood, 55% less likely to have a stroke. nutritionists say you can get more from tomatoes if you cook them. there you go.

more light activity either side of i-81. that's where it's been wet most of the afternoon and most of the night. temperatures, wow, 47 in lei tensville. 49 in bethesda. 48 in great falls and vienna and fairfax. 50 in arlington and 51 out in bowie. so, cool and unsettled. keep your umbrella handy tonight. chilly again tonight. you'll need a jacket tomorrow. so will the kids at the bus stop and improving on wednesday. we do find some light at the end of the tunnel, so to speak. our forecast, not much green blobs, not much rain or showers, but a will lot of clouds. we get into the early morning hours, a couple showers possible. primarily south of town. more than anything, we are looking at clouds tomorrow. hanging in tough until we get to the evening and we'll get some breaks around the metro area. we'll get breaks in frederick and hagerstown. you'll have sun by tomorrow afternoon. for tonight, mostly cloudy,

chilly. lows in the 40s. even upper 40s downtown. tomorrow morning, mostly cloudy and chilly. some showers. more to the south and east. 40s and 50s and by afternoon, variable clouds. some breaks north and west. cool, a few showers still possible south and east. high temperatures 55 to about 60. next three days, we're going to keep it code green for now. 58 tomorrow and a few showers. we jump to 68 on wednesday with morning showers and great on thursday. actually a cold front goes through wednesday, but we'll be warmer, 69 with sunshine on thursday. next seven days, we're getting there. upper 60s on friday. maybe a shower on friday. and then we are in great shape over the weekend. 75 on saturday. we have ravens in town, the skins in town. maybe 80 on sunday. a slight chance of a shower saturday night. not a big deal. upper 70s on monday. >> it's going to be nice. >> should be nice. we'll be back.

in the mail bag tonight, some reaction to a judge's decision forcing metro to allow a pro israel subway ad that refers to muslims as savages. john says that ad should never have been posted. metro is cosh cautious about that ad. the ad hides behind the first amendment to call the members of a particular religion savages. i have no dogs in this hunt, but the ad for israel does not pass muster. it just insults the followers or islam. this is progress? well no, john, it's not exactly progress. i have to ask you, what would it mean if the judge ruled the opposite way? would it be progress to say that ads could be banned because people don't like the message? i've never been sure where we

should draw those lines, is most of the time, i argue the courts are right to err on the side of more speech, not less. and then there was this on the hit that took out robert griffin, iii, in yesterday's redskins game. craig from king george, virginia, said that hit was illegal. griffin was sliding feet first when weatherspoon slammed his shoulder into the left side of his helmet. weatherspoon could have tackled rg3, but chose to launch at griffin's head. after bounty gate, it will be interesting to see how the commissioner handles this. you are the only person i've heard or seen that says that hit wasn't legal. in the eyes of the officials, griffin was like a runningback going for a first down. besides, he wasn't sliding down, he started to go down, but the guy hit him while he was trying to get down. so he set himself up to get blasted, which is exactly what happened. most of washington stopped breathing for a couple of minutes when rg3 didn't get up right away. i'm hoping he is good to go next week. we would like to have your e-
